Members of the Lisburn Chamber of Commerce recently visited Johnsons Coffee in Lisburn as part of its programme of business study visits for 2014.

Philip Mills, Group Sales Director, Johnson Brothers gave a presentation on the history of the company, followed by a tour of the factory showing the roasting and production facilities. The event concluded in the sampling room, where guests enjoyed the different blends of coffee that Johnsons produce.

Erin Higgins wins Master Barista title with the Sandwich Company

 

The finals of the ‘Sandwich Company’s Master Barista of the Year’ competition took place recently at The Sandwich Company, Strand Road, L/Derry, Northern Ireland.

Hosts of the event, Johnsons Coffee welcomed baristas from all the Sandwich Company restaurants, across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

The title of Master Barista was awarded to Erin Higgins from the Sandwich Company’s restaurant in the Diamond, who put on an impressive performance to win the award for Best Signature Coffee and the overall title of Master Barista of the Year.

Runner up was Theresa McGilloway, from the Sandwich Company, The Diamond and 3rd Place went to Alison Page from the Sandwich Company, Lisnagelvin.

The Chairman of the judges was Simon Robertson, the UK Barista Champion, who commented “Congratulations to Erin on winning the title. There were some very strong challengers and I was extremely impressed with the very high standards shown by all competitors.”

Philip Mills, Group Sales Director for Johnson Brothers and a Champion Barista himself, also praised the commitment and professionalism of the competitors and congratulated all involved in the competition.

Johnsons Coffee are inviting all customers, suppliers and friends to visit them on stand D3 in the King’s Hall Complex between 11th – 13th March, where they will not only serving their freshly brewed blends of Johnsons Coffee, but they will also be roasting the coffee on their stand – a FIRST at IFEX!

Everyone visiting the stand is invited to drop their business card into the draw to win a superb Jura Impressa automated bean to cup coffee machine – and not only that, but Johnsons will be making a donation for each card entered to the important work of the SOS Bus in Northern Ireland.

IFEX is Northern Ireland’s PREMIER showcase of the latest food & drink products, catering equipment, interiors, technology and services to the food, retail and hospitality industries.

 

Johnsons Coffee a special donation to the Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service

 

Johnsons Coffee recently supported the NIBTS Christmas campaign, by donating coffee and hot chocolate for all those giving blood in the run up to Christmas.

The week of blood donations was very successful, increasing the number of units of blood donated from 1030 the previous week to 1217 during the special week.

Andrea Copithorne, Senior Marketing Officer at the Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service in thanking Johnsons Coffee for their continued support, commented, “This is a really good result for us at this time of year, particularly when there are so many other distractions like Christmas shopping! It makes such a difference to us to have the backing of a local company, like Johnsons Coffee”.
