SOS Bus NI are inviting local groups to takepart in their first ever Dragon Boat Race on the Lagan, a brilliant fundraiserto support a local charity.
The waterborne challenge is taking place onSaturday 22nd June, with the race starting at Bryson Lagan Sports onthe Ravenhill Road.
Groups of friends, corporates organisationsand community clubs are all invited to register a team to take place. Teamsneed to have between 13 and 17 to take part. No experience is necessary.Registration is only £10 per person, and SOS Bus NI is asking each individualto try their best to raise £75.
Gillian Thomson, Fundraising and MarketingManager at SOS Bus NI said, “We are really exciting about our first ever dragonboat race. It is a great opportunity for people to have a laugh together whilstraising much needed money to help those who are vulnerable and in their time ofneed on the streets of Belfast”.
The event organisers will supply the dragon boats, thebriefing and the safety equipment, whilst Johnson Brothers will be providing acoffee dock for the participants and spectators to enjoy. Friends and familyare encouraged to come along and cheer for their team! There will also be a BBQfor everyone to enjoy.

SOS Bus NI is a recognised safe haventhat attracts everyone and at which everybody is warmly received. For those who need emotional and/or physicalhelp, the SOS team provides professional caring and medical services that havesaved lives.
SOS buses are currently based inShaftesbury Square on Friday and Saturday nights and outside the OdysseyComplex on Saturday nights.
The SOS Bus service has been applauded by Belfast CityCouncil amongst others for the positive impact it is having on the streets ofBelfast. The PSNI have also praised the SOS Bus for making a significantcontribution to reducing anti–social behaviour and crime on the nights that itoperates.
Since starting in 2007, SOS Bus NI has engaged withover 179,000 people, whilst in–depth caring and medical support has beenprovided to over 4,500 individuals and their services have been proven to havesaved 11 lives.
